Sensata has sent word that if we continue fighting to save our jobs they will close the plant.
Mayor George Gaulrapp and the Freeport Chief of Police have passed along news from Sensata management — who were in town today from their headquarters in Attleboro, Massachusetts — that if anyone else stands up and commits any further civil disobedience, the Sensata plant in Freeport, Illinois will close the plant immediately and for good.
Tomorrow, the Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. returns to Bainport. He will be marching on Sensata with workers and community supporters to call, once again, for management to engage in open dialogue about saving our jobs or giving us a full severence.
It is disgraceful that Sensata would threaten and intimidate us with plant closure in response to our request for fair treatment. This is a clear example of the cutthroat nature of the Bain economic model. Not only will Bain outsource your jobs, they want you to smile and thank them for it.
Well, we aren’t smiling. We are mad as Hell and we won’t be intimidated by the likes of Bain/Sensata. They don’t know what people in Freeport, IL are made of. We will not be moved.
Please come to Bainport tomorrow afternoon, please help us get the word out. Tomorrow there will be a showdown and we need all people of goodwill to join us at Noon or anytime before 4pm to stand with us. Like, share, email others you know and ask them to come to Bainport and stand for dignity, justice and our community.
