Freeport, IL – Sensata worker Tom Gaulrapp, who is currently facing the outsourcing of his job to China by Bain, released the following statement today in response to the video in which Romney details Bain’s business model of buying and “harvesting” companies.
“Bain Capital is outsourcing my job to China, so it felt like a slap in the face to hear Mitt Romney say that Bain was created to harvest companies at a significant profit. It’s no secret that Romney’s business model cost thousands of American workers their jobs during his tenure at Bain. But Romney’s job-killing business model is still taking its toll on workers in the U.S.
“Bain owns Sensata Technologies, which bought the plant I work in two years ago, and now they are shipping 170 jobs to China by November—including mine. The loss of these jobs will be devastating for our families and for our community. Many of us will end up unemployed or competing with our kids for minimum-wage jobs.
“Bain is still doing what Mitt Romney set it up to do—outsource jobs and make big profits. And while working people like me and my co-workers are suffering, Mitt Romney continues to profit from his investment in Bain Capital.
“Today we reiterate our call for him to step in, stop the outsourcing, and save our jobs. We’re giving him the opportunity to show the whole country where he really stands today—with American workers or with companies like Bain that ship jobs overseas.”
